Cora Dance and Other News

Tomorrow evening at 6:30, BDP will be in Bushwick checking out Cre808 Studios. Cre808 is a communal art space in Brooklyn that is available for rental for various events, rehearsals, classes, performances, and other exhibitions. We discovered Cre808 through the convenient website New York Performing Arts Spaces, a website that has listings of all spaces in the five-boroughs, the types of events you can rent space for, the prices for private and non-profit rentals, and more info about each space than you might actually need. Anyway, Cre808 is high on our list of hopefuls for a space to actually host our summer camp this year. We will keep you posted after our visit.

Last week we visited Cora Dance Studio in the Red Hook section of Brooklyn. Situated in a fairly industrial, yet up-and-coming spot in west Brooklyn, Cora Dance Studio is run by a professional team of amazing women who arrange classes, rent out space when they aren't hosting classes, and push to be involved in the local community. Unfortunately, though their space is beautiful and amazing, their capacity is 15 people per class/rehearsal, so that knocked them out of the running for hosting our summer camp, as we hope to have at least 25 youth-members. However, if you are running a small class or event, please go check out Cora Dance Studio as a possible space to host your small event. They're wonderful, affordable, the space is gorgeous, and you won't regret it. Thanks again Nadya for showing us around.

Check back tomorrow evening for news about our experience at Cre808. Also, please sign up to receive our email newsletter where you'll find tons of useful information about upcoming events, fundraisers, and registration for the Broken Doll Productions summer theater camp.
